ABOUT US

Baptist Temple Church has stood as a beacon of faith, hope, and spiritual strength in Shreveport, Louisiana for more than a century. Founded on August 11, 1905, under the leadership of the late Rev. Robert Taylor, Baptist Temple was organized at 1413 Murphy Street as an offspring of Galilee Baptist Church. From the beginning, our foundation has been Christ.
Under the faithful leadership of our following pastors: Rev. Robert Taylor (1905), Pastor W. M. Hicks, Pastor James Banks, Pastor Frank Miles, Pastor Jiles L. Stills (1927–1962), Dr. Leonard Williams (1962–1998), Rev. Ebb Williams (1998–2003), Rev. Alvin L. Carthon, Sr. (2004–2012), Rev. John C. Hollins (2014–2016), Dr. Aaron Franklin (2017), and Rev. Trevor D. Allen, Sr. (2018–Present); our church has been continually blessed with a rich, theological and administrative legacy.
Throughout our history, Baptist Temple has experienced seasons of both triumph and challenge. Our original church building was destroyed by fire, but the congregation rebuilt and continued moving forward in faith. Under Pastor Jiles L. Stills, the church experienced steady growth. Under Dr. Leonard Williams, the church relocated to 1945 Laurel Street in 1968, expanded its ministry footprint, and in 1994 purchased its current campus at 5024 Greenwood Road.
Throughout transitions and the COVID-19 pandemic, Baptist Temple remained committed to prayer, worship, and discipleship, including launching a daily prayer line ministry that continues today. And, since April 2018, Rev. Trevor D. Allen, Sr. was unanimously elected as the eleventh pastor and installed in July 2018. His leadership has emphasized discipleship, revival, relevance, and reaching the next generation.
Baptist Temple Church is a Christ-centered, discipleship-focused congregation committed to helping people grow in faith, discover purpose, and experience transformation through Jesus Christ. Standing strong. Growing faithfully. Serving boldly.
